Week of August 3
🧩 I’m depressed because the boys are gone, and when I’m depressed, I tend to spend money 😬 Sooooo… I bought the Milky Way.
🎮 From the “Ah shit, I spent more money” category, I replaced the Razer Wolverine V3 Pro Xbox controller I’ve been using since last fall with a wired Scuf Valor Pro controller because I keep experiencing disconnects with the Razer while using it both wired and wirelessly. So far, so good with the Scuf.
📷 After reading what Davey has written about mood.camera, I decided to give it a try. It’s pretty sweet. I currently have it set to use a random style for each photo, so sometimes the results are great and sometimes they’re visual vomit 😂, but at least they’re always interesting! It reminds me a lot of the old Hipstamatic app from back in the day.
👨💻 I’m back to work after being off on PTO since July 18th. It turns out 2 weeks off isn’t enough to get rid of the burnout 😩
⌨️ I picked up an OMOTON Bluetooth Magnetic Keyboard Case for my 11” iPad Pro. It was under $40 (a far cry from Apple’s $299 Magic Keyboard) so I figured what the hell. Quick thoughts… eeeeehhhhhhh. The keys kinda suck — they’re loud, feel kinda loose, and seem to be kind of seated weird sometimes. The trackpad definitely sucks — it’s difficult to click and sometimes right-clicks or double-clicks instead of just clicking once. Bbbbbuuuutttttt, I keep telling myself it was under $40 and I’m hoping maybe it’ll break in a bit and/or I’ll get used to it. Update: It’s been a day and I’ve already stopped using it because the flaky trackpad makes it incredibly frustrating to use.
📱 Installed iPadOS 26 beta 5 on the 11” iPad Pro. We’ll see how long I last this time.
🔫 I got access to the Battlefield 6 closed beta from being in the playtests and played on Thursday and Friday (public beta starts Saturday). It’s really, really good and even better if you can avoid the vehicle spam (it kind of feels like there are tanks EVERYWHERE at the moment). It’s like a completely different game compared to what I played in the playtests. I’m impressed and really looking forward to release in October.
🍜 I would eat pho every single day if I could, but I guess I’ll settle for twice this week. This is the “Pho Special” — it’s eye-round steak, brisket, and meatballs, and it is absolutely delicious.
📱 A small update regarding this post: I traded in the 13” iPad Pro and got a Mac mini and a Magic Keyboard for the 11” iPad Pro since the other keyboard sucked (see above). I’m holding onto the MacBook Pro for now and will trade it in with the 11” iPad Pro when the M5 iPad Pro is released.
