I’ve been coming to this lake since I was a baby. I learned to swim here, and spent a massive chunk of my childhood swimming, riding my dad’s Wave Runner, or just playing in and around it.
Weekly Recap #49
📝 I moved the site to Pagecord, mostly for the Post by Email feature. Everything I’ve posted so far has been using it, and I’m pretty happy with it so far.
🎵 Today's Crucial Track: "4th of July / He Stopped Loving Her Today (feat. George Jones) [Medley]" by Shooter Jennings
Alone with the mornin’ burning’ red
On the canvas in my head
Paintin’ a picture of you
And me, driving’ across country
In a dusty, old RV
Just the road and its majesty
And I'm lookin’ at you
With the world in the rear view
I’ve driven across the country 4 times and have always wanted to take it slowly in an RV and not be in a rush to make it to the other side.
Happy 4th of July!

🎵 Today's Crucial Track: "Violence" by WE$TPHAL

🎵 Today's Crucial Track: "South Eastenders" by Pete & Bas
I love these old British dudes. This whole song is fire, but I especially love this verse by Pete:
Pulling up in a black Ranger Raptor
Bald on the noggin', I slap fifty factor
Any sales better go through P
You think you're the plug, I'm the fuckin' adapter

Weird Google Shit
A week or two ago, I tried to submit the site’s sitemap.xml file in the Google Search Console (GSC). I was able to do so, but GSC has a status of “Couldn’t fetch”:
Migrated to Pagecord
I’ve decided to move the blog over to Pagecord — at least for now — mostly due to the post by email feature (which I’m using to post this).
I emailed yesterday and asked to have my blog imported and Olly got back to me a couple of hours later saying it was done. Everything should be moved over (and updated in a couple of spots). Please let me know if you find anything broken.
Note: If you were previously subscribed to the RSS feed, it has moved. Please update your feed reader.
Weekly Recap #48
Relatively short one this week. It’s been gross and rainy outside all week and there hasn’t been much going on.
American Flags in Black & White
This photo I took the other day in my garage with my Camp Snap 2 made me think of the song American Flags in Black & White by John Moreland.
Weekly Recap 47
Week of June 14
📱 After a couple weeks using the iPhone Air, I’m back on the iPhone 17 Pro. I have the iOS 27 beta on the Pro, so we’ll see how using that full time goes. I don’t really anticipate issues – it’s been pretty good in my testing – but I’ll find out soon enough.
Happy 17th Birthday, Boys!
My twins turn 17 today, and I could not be more proud of the young men they’ve become. I know I post this photo every year, but it’s my favorite and I don’t care — I’m posting it anyway ☺️
Happy birthday boys, I love you ❤️
Weekly Recap #46
Week of June 7
🍎 WWDC was this past week and Apple announced the 27 OSes. I have the betas installed on my iPad Pro and iPhone 17 Pro (I’m still using the iPhone Air as my daily driver) and it has been solid so far. This is the Liquid Glass they should’ve released last year.
Weekly Recap #45
Week of May 31
📱 Since I hadn’t used it in a while, I decided to switch back to the iPhone Air this past week. It’s been a fun little experiment. I still do really love the form factor of the Air, but I will probably end up back on the 17 Pro soon.
Adios, Urethra Franklin
I had surgery on Wednesday morning to remove a 1.3cm kidney stone from my upper left ureter.
Everything went well and the whole thing was extremely quick. I arrived at the hospital at 6am and was on my way home at 10am. Kinda crazy.
In order to keep my ureter from swelling shut, a 6x26 double-J stent that goes from my bladder into my kidney was placed. I go back on June 10th to have the stent removed.
I cannot wait until all of this is finally over and done with.
Weekly Recap #44
Another short one this week.
Week of May 24
🇺🇸 Monday was Memorial Day here in the US and it was absolutely gorgeous outside. The pain was tolerable enough that I was able to get my ass out of the house and over to my mom’s to fire up the grill and make everyone dinner.
