Weekly Recap #49

📝 I moved the site to Pagecord, mostly for the Post by Email feature. Everything I’ve posted so far has been using it, and I’m pretty happy with it so far.

🌮 There is a new Mexican restaurant that opened up in town and it’s really good. We’ve been there twice already. I’m just happy I no longer have to drive 45 minutes away for real Mexican food. This guy is in their back room.

⚽️ There have been some cccrrraaazzzyyy matches so far in the World Cup. Germany’s out. The Netherlands are out. Cabo Verde nearly beat Argentina in the round of 32. It’s been pretty fun to watch. My pick to win the whole thing from the start has been France, so we shall see.

🎆 Saturday July 4th was Independence Day here in the United States. We went to a friend’s house for a BBQ and fireworks. Happy 250th birthday, ‘Murica.

🌐 I’ve been running into some really weird shit with Google Search Console lately and have not been able to figure out how to fix it. If you have any suggestions, I’m all ears.

📱 I added both an App Defaults page and a Uses page to site, as well as a change log. Hopefully I will update these more often than I update the Now page 😂

🎵 I set up Micropub on Crucial Tracks so the songs I post there show up here as posts.

☀️ It has been hot af here this past week. This is a screenshot from the Carrot Weather widget on my home screen taken on Friday evening at 6 PM in the Costco parking lot. Awful.

🎵 Today's Crucial Track: "4th of July / He Stopped Loving Her Today (feat. George Jones) [Medley]" by Shooter Jennings

Alone with the mornin’ burning’ red
On the canvas in my head
Paintin’ a picture of you
And me, driving’ across country
In a dusty, old RV
Just the road and its majesty
And I'm lookin’ at you
With the world in the rear view

I’ve driven across the country 4 times and have always wanted to take it slowly in an RV and not be in a rush to make it to the other side.

Happy 4th of July!

Migrated to Pagecord

I’ve decided to move the blog over to Pagecord — at least for now — mostly due to the post by email feature (which I’m using to post this).

I emailed yesterday and asked to have my blog imported and Olly got back to me a couple of hours later saying it was done. Everything should be moved over (and updated in a couple of spots). Please let me know if you find anything broken.

Note: If you were previously subscribed to the RSS feed, it has moved. Please update your feed reader.

Weekly Recap 47

Week of June 14

📱 After a couple weeks using the iPhone Air, I’m back on the iPhone 17 Pro. I have the iOS 27 beta on the Pro, so we’ll see how using that full time goes. I don’t really anticipate issues – it’s been pretty good in my testing – but I’ll find out soon enough.

Happy 17th Birthday, Boys!

My twins turn 17 today, and I could not be more proud of the young men they’ve become. I know I post this photo every year, but it’s my favorite and I don’t care — I’m posting it anyway ☺️

Happy birthday boys, I love you ❤️

Weekly Recap #45

Week of May 31

📱 Since I hadn’t used it in a while, I decided to switch back to the iPhone Air this past week. It’s been a fun little experiment. I still do really love the form factor of the Air, but I will probably end up back on the 17 Pro soon.

Adios, Urethra Franklin

I had surgery on Wednesday morning to remove a 1.3cm kidney stone from my upper left ureter.

Everything went well and the whole thing was extremely quick. I arrived at the hospital at 6am and was on my way home at 10am. Kinda crazy.

In order to keep my ureter from swelling shut, a 6x26 double-J stent that goes from my bladder into my kidney was placed. I go back on June 10th to have the stent removed.

I cannot wait until all of this is finally over and done with.

Weekly Recap #44

Another short one this week.

Week of May 24

🇺🇸 Monday was Memorial Day here in the US and it was absolutely gorgeous outside. The pain was tolerable enough that I was able to get my ass out of the house and over to my mom’s to fire up the grill and make everyone dinner.
