Weekly Recap #4
Week of August 17
🔫 The Battlefield 6 beta ended on the 17th. It’s gonna be a long two months til the release. On the upside, I should have some time to go back to Donkey Kong now.
📱 Updated the iPad Pro and MacBook Air to their respective beta 7 drops, and finally put iOS 26 on my iPhone and Watch as well. The only thing left without the beta is the Mac mini — my primary work machine — that’ll be waiting until release. Update: As of the last couple of beta builds, I haven’t minded Liquid Glass on the iPad and Mac, but it’s still kinda ass on the iPhone and I can’t quite put my finger on why. Too much blur on edges or something… I dunno. All I know is that I like it far less on the iPhone than anywhere else.
🏘️ Not gonna lie, I kinda hate home ownership. We’ve been down to one working garage door for… a while… probably the better part of the last 2-3 years. Getting it fixed hasn’t been a priority since we both just used the other door. Well, when Melissa went out to go to work one morning, the previously working door opened about a foot and stopped. We tried everything we could think of to get it working and no luck. Turns out the spring broke. Wonderful. Update: I found an awesome repair guy who was able to come out same day. A couple of hours and $858 later, we now have 2 working garage doors 💸😭
🏠 Sigh. It never ends. Now my mortgage is going up by $100/mo because the county finally reassessed everyone’s property for the first time since 1996 and mine went up by 600%. Obviously this means higher taxes, and that means a higher mortgage payment since the taxes are paid through escrow. Ugh. Have I mentioned lately that I hate home ownership?
📱 It’s been about 2 weeks without the 13” iPad Pro, and honestly I’m not missing it at all. I’m happy with my decision to get rid of it and keep the 11” instead.
