Weekly Recap #41

Week of May 3

💻 As I’ve mentioned a few times previously, one of my twins is graduating high school a year early this June. Earlier this week, I decided to get him a MacBook Neo for his graduation present. My original plan was to order one and have it shipped to him, but since 1) shipping times are currently all over the place, 2) I wanted to surprise him with it, and 3) my local Apple Store had the model and color I wanted in stock (512 GB, Touch ID, Indigo), I decided to just go get it and take it with me when I fly out. Hopefully he likes it!

🍎 It seems that Apple has changed how AppleCare can be purchased at some point. I used to be able to go to the AppleCare site, put in a serial number, and if a device was eligible, buy an AppleCare plan. I called Tech Support to find out if I was missing something and they confirmed – the device (in this case, Alex’s unopened MacBook Neo) needs to be activated and signed into an iCloud account. I’m still not quite sure that’s true (I pay for both twins’ iPhone AppleCare somehow) and I was asked at the store when I bought the Neo if I wanted AppleCare and I stupidly said I’d add it later. Oh well, there’ll still be 30-some days to add it after I give him to him in June so I guess we’ll deal with it then.

🏀 The Sixers are down 3 games to none against the Knicks in the Eastern Conference playoffs. It’s gonna take a miracle to come back from that deficit and the Sixers haven’t looked good enough to pull it off.

🧩 We ended up at Target after our grocery shopping at Costco, and I found the newest set of Happy Plants so I grabbed it (last one on the shelf too!). I’m becoming addicted to these botanical sets for sure.

🍊 I finally saw one of these stickers in the wild! Not gonna lie, it’s kind of surprising since I live firmly in the middle of Trump-land.

You certainly did, shithead.

I absolutely love this. Nothing against Pika at all (I love it here), but it’s playing with things like this that make me miss building my own site.

Otávio’s Pika.publish Obsidian plugin

I don’t currently use Obsidian (I use Drafts), but this is pretty sweet and might get me to give Obsidian another try.
